I know I'm pretty late to the thread, didn't find anything else, hopefully u still here.

The most noticeable difference between the 2 encoders is on start-up with the incremental encoder (20K) based systems taking 5-10 seconds longer to self-calibrate than the absolute encoder (8M) based systems.

In use without the benefit of a back-to-back A/B comparison, you would be hard-pushed to tell which encoder is fitted as settings will have a greater impact.

The 8M encoder systems will probably be easier to setup to your exact preferences given the greater resolution available but similar results are achievable on 20K encoder systems with a bit of effort.

The 3 model ranges you reference each have a specific design ethos.

The Compact wheelbases aim to be as light as possible with motors weighing between 3kg & 8kg. This allows for mounting on wheelstands, desks and lightweight sim rigs. They shipped in standard & Plus variants differentiated by the encoders in use (10,000 cpr/20,000,cpr in the standard models and 8,388,608 cpr in the Plus models).
Torque levels ranged from 7Nm - 13Nm.

The regular SW wheelbases use motors weighing between 10kg & 15kg with torque levels ranging between 10Nm & 33Nm. They all use the 8,388,608 cpr absolute encoder.

The Esport models use the same motor as the 20Nm SW20 V3 with a 20,000 cpr incremental encoder fitted. This motor weighs 10Kg and is used in the 10Nm, 15Nm & 20Nm models. The controllers are optimised around these configurations to deliver class leading performance at their respective price points.

Endurance racing is easily within the capabilities of every Esport model.
