<p dir="auto">Historically, we've recommended a USB 2.0 port but most modern motherboards only have USB 3.x controllers sitting behind their ports regardless of port designation.</p>
<p dir="auto"><img src="/assets/uploads/files/1674661187237-6f1fc84a-aed3-4da1-8795-cdf378b4e2f2-image.png" alt="6f1fc84a-aed3-4da1-8795-cdf378b4e2f2-image.png" class=" img-fluid img-markdown" /></p>
<p dir="auto">As seen in the 4 year-old Z390 system above with a single USB 3.1 controller</p>
<p dir="auto"><img src="/assets/uploads/files/1674662308342-15e5b067-bc7c-476a-9ce0-7bb9f3dd03c7-image.png" alt="15e5b067-bc7c-476a-9ce0-7bb9f3dd03c7-image.png" class=" img-fluid img-markdown" /></p>
<p dir="auto">a 7 year-old H110 system with a single USB 3.0 controller</p>
<p dir="auto"><img src="/assets/uploads/files/1674661999449-f819d1f8-c7e2-48a3-8ec5-46132de51e82-image.png" alt="f819d1f8-c7e2-48a3-8ec5-46132de51e82-image.png" class=" img-fluid img-markdown" /><br />
contrasted with an 11 year old Z77 system with a single USB 3.0 controller &amp; two USB 2.0 controllers. This would be the only system on which there would be a practical difference in selecting a USB 2.0 port.</p>
<p dir="auto">You can thus use any available port ignoring its USB version designation.</p>
