Hello, I am looking to buy a simplicity wheelbase, but since I last looked 1 week ago they seem to have added a few more wheelbases, an esport range,(with an incremental encoder 5,000 to 20,000cpr) and a sw10 not compact based on the 130 mige motor but at 10nm now I am in a bit of confusion, this will be my first dd, do I need the full 20 nm? or can I do with 10? what's the difference with the encoders? I know it's less resolution but how noticeable is it. I had planned on sw20v3, but now im a little confused. Just as a little information I am 50 years so youthful high energy or strength levels are not really my prime concern. Thanks in advance

I would suppose it is dependant on which system you are currently using / moving from.

        When I opted in and went DD . (Sw20v3) from a TS-PC ( circa 6 Nm)
And I wanted it to be my last Wheel base purchase.

I had a long look around and happily admit I hadnt really heard of Sim-plicity until my search.
I pretty much knew that I wanted but also got confused over the lesser Nm offerings.

I admit I have a pretty simplistic analogy on why X Nm over Y Nm . No doubt someone could offer a more technical explanation

Imagine a cake and X amount of guests to serve at a party.
Where the Cake is Nm and the guests the effects the differing sims can offer.
The bigger the cake the more guests can have a slice without skimping on the slice.
As for encoder speed : image them to be serving staff more staff the quicker the guests get served.

I dont use the full 20Nm all the time if casually bombing around a circuit around 14-15 depending on the car.
If rallying and the ffb signal is good then I lower it for certain terrains. but I can up it for the flatter ones. I have the choice. If I were limited to a smaller cake then I Know I would no doubt wish I had gone for a bigger cake.

I just have more choice to refine what how much force I want .

Ive only had 1 sim series that is just plain poor but that is I believe is in the game engine itself - (That series btw WRC)
Every other Driving sim Ive thrown at the wheel has been great.

Support from the Sim-plicity team has been great.

Hope I havent muddied the waters too much

        Good luck.

@the_old_man at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_direct-drive_sim_racing_wheels are some technical data on common direct drive wheels. My guess is that maybe you could juxtapose a "esport" model to a simagic 10 or alpha mini, when talking about cpr encoder?

And then see reviews on those, to get a hint if an esport is enough for you.
But if it was me to choose between esport and sw20v3 I would still choose the sw20v3, and not settle for less, because just as @Ochso said, I have also bought this as if its my "last" basewheel to buy. hopefully it can last +10 years and hopefully more.
